International Acting-Directing Laboratory

International
Acting-Directing Laboratory

under guidance of Sergey Ostrenko

July 3-8, 2006
Bologna, Italy

The most common question participants ask at the workshops:
“What is the meaning of this exercise?
Which exercise is the most effective in …?
A person coming to a workshop is seeking some important answers to the topical professional questions; he is wishing to improve his work and creative practice.

New workshop is a new teacher and new exercises. There is a great many of good exercises in contemporary theatre training. How can we use them to make our work more effective? The answer is that each exercise taken separately makes no sense. Only the system of exercises can be effective and applicable.

During the workshop participants will get acquainted with the system of exercises elaborated as a result of the long-term research carried out by Ostrenko together with the members of IUGTE Creative Laboratory. The research was developed by the team of professional directors, actors, dancers, choreographers and psychologists with specialization in performing arts and creativity. The method of Ostrenko was developed under the influence of various exercises and techniques of traditional and contemporary theatre training.

Ostrenko training is an intensive, saturated and consecutive process. The atmosphere is conducive to exploration, demands alert involvement and personal investment in the process; this is a nurturing and challenging environment, a safe place within which to take creative risks..!

The Laboratory program includes
intensive practical training,
theoretical discussions and lectures.
The will consist of four parts:
