Aerial Theatre
Mara Is interested in using acting and aerialism in nontraditional ways in order to cross personal boundaries and limitations to find a highly conscious place of body, mind and spirit. She teaches and performs through out the United States. In developing Aerial Theatre, Mara integrates mask and spoken word with trapeze and aerial dance, creating theatre that is uniquely three dimesional and kinesthetically diverse. The audience experiences the richly metaphoric and imaginative experience of story that takes flight. For Theatre Methods 04, Mara proposes to take a sample from her aerial solo show, Out Of The Blue
Out Of The Blue
Out Of The Blue is a journey of transformation and the exploration of woman, balance, and the natural world. In performance, physical strength is integrated with imagination and applied to a profound personal story with timeless themes.
Workshop Description
Dance, fly, glide, and spin on low flying trapezes as exciting vehicles through which to explore movement, gesture, and three dimensional communication for creating self generated theatre. Take flight in this exciting class that integrates physical theatre techniques with aerial dance within a framework of ensemble community. Class includes a conditioning and stretching component and is taught in an atmosphere of safety and respect. Suggested to anyone with a body and an imagination.
