Ostrenko Performing Arts Laboratory (OPAL)

The Laboratory is the practical course open to directors of theatre, video, film, animation, computer games, playwrights, actors of dramatic, physical, musical and dance theatres, dancers, choreographers, artists, teachers and senior students of theatre departments.

The Laboratory under the direction of Sergey Ostrenko (Director, Teacher, Artistic Director of the International Festival "THEATRE METHODS", President of IUGTE) traces roots back to the early 1990s, the practical research which has been carried out by the team of professional directors, actors, and psychologists with specialization in performing arts and creativity. The international program was already carried out in Russia, Latvia, Ukraine, Canada and Italy.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

The Laboratory program includes intensive group practical training, theoretical lectures, discussions, work demonstrations and additional independent tasks.

The course consists of 9 practical internal sessions and 8 distance correspondence intervals.

Each internal practical session lasts for three days:

· FRIDAY 7pm - 9pm
Theoretical introduction. Goals and objectives setting.
Homework review, analysis and discussion.

· SATURDAY 9am - 4pm
Practical training. Part 1

· SUNDAY 9am - 4pm
Practical training. Part 2

Each distance correspondence interval includes:

· three e-mail reports
· one practical home task
· one independent creative idea
