Introductory Course in AustriaJuly 1 - 7, 2012.

Performance creation in Russia:
Group IAugust 20 - October 12, 2012
Group II: October 15 - November 26, 2012

The course offers a unique opportunity to work in an international performance project, in a multicultural creative environment, together with Russian actors, directors, performers and arts managers from different countries.

The course enables participants to acquire both practical skills and theoretical knowledge in filmmaking, in connection with the performing arts.

Participants will have the opportunity to gain practical experience and understanding of what a theatre/dance performance on screen is; how to use the artistic crafts of actors and performers as tools in order to create "stories told by the body" on the screen; how to bring together the story essence, its physical nature as well as thought-provoking and engaging; how to convey the atmosphere and rhythm of the performance; how to work side by side with all members of the production team and get the best results from this collaborative relationship. Participants will explore the key principles in directing for film - script analysis, plot breakdown and interpretation, understanding of the composition in visual storytelling, understanding the difference between directing for the stage and for the screen and how to translate a theatrical form of expression into a film.

As a result of the course, participants will be able to create their own film idea of the performance project - from a documentary about the production process and it’s creative development, on stage and backstage, to an original short movie, a screen version of the performance to be filmed with the actors.

This course represents a wonderful chance to improve specific skills, an excellent opportunity to gain professional experience and meet collaborators for future creative work!

The course languages are English and Russian.
